Club News - Summer/Winter 2014-15

Interesting times at the Rotary Club of Hunstanton and District

At the Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs of Hunstanton and District we were delighted to witness the presentation of cheques totalling £7,200 to the charities of W. Norfolk MIND, the Norfolk Hospice and the One-to-One project at our Christmas event. These were the charities supported at the Norton Hill Light Railway event, courtesy of the owner, Mr. M. Schumann. These presentations followed closely our other big event, equally enjoyable and satisfying, when our Rotarians ran a most successful Christmas lunch for 100 senior citizens. This event was superbly organised by Rotarian Peter Atterbury and his helpers.

And here we are in 2014. We are very much looking forward to our first speaker of the year, none other than Elaine Bird, editor of 'Hunstanton Town and Around' and wife of our Rotary member, Richard. Elaine will be talking on 'How Hunstanton Town and Around' began At the end of January we have an evening meeting when we are gathering at the Rendezvous Restaurant on the High Street in Hunstanton for a meal and a social get-together. Later in the winter we shall be having a speaker from Blossom House and a visit from Mr John Goodchild, Headteacher of Smithdon High School who will be talking to us about current educational practices.
